Mariposa County, CA – On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 4, 2026, a head-on collision resulted in major injuries to an adult woman, according to KSEE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:00 PM near Highway 49 just east of Wass Road.
Authorities said the woman was driving along the stretch of Highway 49 when her vehicle was involved in a head-on crash under circumstances that remain under investigation. Due to the severity of her injuries, emergency crews requested an air ambulance, and the woman was flown from the scene to Community Regional Medical Center for advanced medical care.
Officials described her injuries as major, though no additional details about her condition were released. CHP stated that information regarding the other driver and any passengers involved in the collision has not been made public.
Investigators noted that the crash occurred along a curve where serious collisions have happened in the past, including a fatal head-on crash in 2019 involving an elderly driver and a garbage truck.
The investigation into the cause of the current crash remains ongoing as authorities continue to review evidence from the scene.
Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a Personal Injury Claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
