Mojave, CA – On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 31, 2025, a single-vehicle rollover resulted in fatal injuries to a 6-year-old child and injuries to three other occupants, according to KGET,
The California Highway Patrol reports that the collision occurred at approximately 12:41 PM on southbound State Route 14 north of Phillips Road. Officials stated that a 40-year-old woman was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe when she lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn into the center median.
Authorities indicated that three children were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. The 6-year-old child was ejected during the rollover and was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP officials reported that the driver and two other children, ages 9 and 11, sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed.
Traffic logs show that the rollover blocked northbound lanes, and officers implemented lane closures and traffic control measures while emergency personnel responded. California Department of Transportation crews assisted with extended closures as the investigation and recovery operations continued.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased at a later time. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
Passenger Liability
Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a Wrongful Death claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming. As a neutral third party, an experienced personal injury attorney can help navigate these emotional complexities.
