Bakersfield, CA – A man was pronounced dead early Sunday morning, January 11, 2026, after being struck by a vehicle on the 4200 block of South H Street, according to KGET.

Bakersfield Police Department officers were dispatched to the location at approximately 1:51 a.m. following a report of a vehicle-pedestrian collision. Upon arrival, they confirmed that a gray Nissan sedan, traveling northbound on South H Street, had struck a man walking in the #2 lane. Emergency medical personnel on scene pronounced the pedestrian deceased. 

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Authorities stated that neither excessive speed nor driver impairment is believed to have played a role in the collision.

Bakersfield Police Department officers continue to collect statements, examine the roadway conditions, and preserve evidence as part of the official investigative process.
