Citrus Heights, CA – On the early morning of Sunday, January 19, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality after an SUV left the roadway and struck a fixed object, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The Citrus Heights Police Department reported that the crash occurred around 1:54 AM near Greenback Lane and Dewey Drive. Officers were dispatched after receiving an automated crash notification from the involved vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found the SUV had collided with a utility pole.
Police said the driver was unresponsive at the scene. Officers initiated lifesaving measures until Sacramento Metro Fire personnel arrived and transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Mia Miskic, 33, of Fair Oaks.
Traffic investigators stated that preliminary information suggests alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash. Officials emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that no final determination has been made regarding the cause.
Authorities also noted that visibility in the area was significantly reduced at the time of the collision due to fog, with National Weather Service data indicating visibility of approximately one-quarter mile.
