Fremont, CA – Andrew Barret Mackenzie, 49, of San Jose, died after a collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck on the afternoon of Monday, January 12, 2026, according to KRON.
Fremont Police Department Officers were dispatched at approximately 3:09 PM to a reported major injury traffic collision at the intersection of Cushing Parkway and Northport Loop. Upon arrival, officers located a motorcycle and a pickup truck that had been involved in the crash.
Police stated that the motorcyclist sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. Emergency medical personnel rendered aid at the scene before transporting the rider to a local hospital for further medical treatment.
Despite ongoing lifesaving efforts by hospital staff, the motorcyclist later died about one hour after the collision. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office subsequently identified the victim as Mackenzie.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured in the incident. Authorities confirmed that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers as required during the investigation.
Fremont police conducted a preliminary investigation, which included securing the scene, documenting roadway conditions, and collecting available evidence. Investigators have not yet determined the factors that led to the collision.
