Crash with Vehicle at Lily, Lincoln Ave Injures Bicyclist, 11, near Washington Colony Elementary in Fresno County

Fresno County, CA – On the afternoon of Wednesday, January 28, 2026, an 11-year-old child was injured and hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while riding an electric dirt bike near Easton, according to ABC30.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred shortly after 4:30 PM at the intersection of Lily and Lincoln avenues, near Washington Colony Elementary School. CHP stated that the child was traveling northbound on Lily Avenue and slowed while approaching the intersection when the crash occurred.

As a result of the impact, the child was ejected from the dirt bike and suffered injuries that caused a temporary loss of consciousness. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and provided immediate care before transporting the child to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Officials indicated that the child was awake at the time of transport, though the extent and severity of the injuries have not been released. The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

The investigation remains ongoing as CHP continues to document the scene and determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Ongoing Investigations

Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.

Duty of Care Toward Bicyclists

Drivers have a Duty of Care towards bicyclists, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for bicyclists with whom they share the road and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim to ensure they get proper medical treatment and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.

Bicycle Accidents Involving Children

California Law requires drivers to exercise increased caution whenever they are near places that children are known to gather, like school zones and parks. Children are not expected to make rational, informed decisions about their own safety, and under the age of five, they cannot share any liability in an accident. Both negligent drivers and distracted caretakers could be found liable in accidents involving children.
