Auberry Rd Crash in Fresno County Kills Jayce Alonzo, 17, of Junction City, KS

Fresno County, CA – On the afternoon of Friday, January 2, 2026, a head-on traffic collision along Auberry Road claimed the life of 17-year-old Jayce Alonzo of Junction City, Kansas, according to The Fresno Bee.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at approximately 3:00 PM on Auberry Road, just south of the Fresno Rifle and Pistol Club, in the Fresno County foothills.

Investigators stated that Alonzo was traveling southbound on a BMW S1000RR motorcycle when he and a Ford F-350 dually truck collided head-on. The Ford truck was being driven by a 39-year-old man, who sustained injuries as a result. CHP reported that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Due to the force of the impact, Alonzo was ejected onto the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials reported that the motorcycle came to rest on the west shoulder of the roadway. The Ford truck stopped partially within the northbound lane and partially on the east shoulder, requiring traffic control measures during the response.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene to provide medical assistance, secure the roadway, and document evidence related to the collision. Traffic along Auberry Road was impacted while investigators conducted their on-scene assessment.

According to CHP, alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have been factors in the crash. The collision remains under investigation.

Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.

Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.

Ongoing Investigations

Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.
