Fresno, CA – Christopher Alipaz, 44, of Fresno, has been identified as the pedestrian who lost his life in the early hours of Monday, December 29, 2025, after being struck by multiple vehicles, according to KSEE.
Fresno Police Department officers were dispatched to the area around 5:00 AM after receiving reports of a pedestrian down in the roadway near a shopping center. The location was identified as West Shaw Avenue in the vicinity of Marks Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found Alipaz lying in the traffic lanes. Emergency medical aid was immediately rendered by responding personnel in accordance with standard emergency response procedures.
Authorities stated that despite lifesaving efforts, Alipaz was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. Investigators later determined that he had been struck by at least two vehicles.
Police said Alipaz was not using a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision. Officers reported that the drivers involved indicated they were unable to see the pedestrian prior to impact.
Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. No injuries to the drivers were reported, and no arrests were announced.
The Fresno Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to conduct a detailed investigation. Officials stated that evidence collection, vehicle inspections, and an analysis of roadway conditions were performed as part of standard traffic collision investigation procedures.
West Shaw Avenue, west of Marks Avenue, was temporarily closed while the investigation was underway. No further information has been released by authorities.
Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, which includes being vigilant for those travelling by foot and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
For those who lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.
Should the at-fault driver evade authorities, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
