San Jose, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, December 2, 2025, a multi-vehicle collision resulted in fatal injuries to two people, including a child who lost their life, according to KSBW.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 10:49 AM on northbound Highway 87 just north of Curtner Avenue.

Authorities said four vehicles were involved, including two Teslas, a Lexus, and a Toyota Sienna. The Teslas and the Lexus caught fire, and an adult and a juvenile inside the Lexus sustained fatal injuries that emergency personnel were unable to treat.

CHP noted that the driver of one Tesla was taken to a hospital with injuries that were still being evaluated. The driver of the Toyota Sienna remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators, and was later released.

The crash forced the closure of northbound Highway 87, with traffic redirected onto Curtner Avenue for several hours as crews worked to secure the area.

Investigators said they are continuing to review the circumstances of the collision, adding that early findings show neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have contributed to the deadly crash.
