Arvin, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, November 22, 2025, a single-vehicle collision involving an off-road vehicle claimed the life of its passenger and injured its driver, according to KBAK.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 12:35 PM near Rockpile Road and Buena Vista Boulevard.
According to CHP, a 20-year-old woman was driving a 2017 Can-Am UTV southbound on Rockpile Road with a male passenger in the right-front seat. The vehicle was traveling at an undetermined high speed when it suddenly veered off the roadway.
Evidence indicates that the right side of the UTV struck an almond tree, and the vehicle continued forward until its left side hit a second almond tree. It came to rest upright against the trunk of the second almond tree.
The passenger suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver sustained severe trauma and was transported to Kern Medical for further treatment.
CHP confirmed there were no additional passengers in the vehicle. Authorities also stated that alcohol or drugs do not appear to have contributed to the crash as the investigation continues.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
Passenger Liability
Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a Wrongful Death claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming. As a neutral third party, an experienced personal injury attorney can help navigate these emotional complexities.
