Bakersfield, CA – On the morning of Sunday, November 2, 2025, a collision involving a suspected DUI driver hospitalized a family of three, and left the father with critical injuries, according to KBAK.

The Bakersfield Police Department reports that the accident took place around 7:03 AM at the intersection of Hageman Road and Fruitvale Avenue in northwest Bakersfield.

Authorities said the crash involved a Mazda Miata and a Mitsubishi Outlander. The driver of the Miata sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. 

The driver of the Outlander, identified as a woman, and a child passenger also suffered minor injuries and were transported for medical care. Another passenger in the Outlander, identified as a man, sustained severe injuries and remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

According to a preliminary investigation, the Outlander was traveling eastbound on Hageman Road and had stopped at a red light. When the light turned green and the driver entered the intersection, the vehicle was struck by the southbound Miata. 

The intersection of Hageman Road and Fruitvale Avenue was closed in all directions for several hours as officers conducted their investigation. Police said that both speed and intoxication are believed to be factors in the crash.

A GoFundMe has been created to support the injured family. The fundraiser notes that the man who was critically hurt faces an extended period of hospitalization and rehabilitation, and that the family will be dealing with significant medical and financial challenges as he recovers.

The Bakersfield Police Department continues to investigate the incident and asks anyone with information about the collision to contact their office.
