Bakersfield, CA – In the early hours of Saturday, October 4, 2025, a woman suffered injuries after a vehicle crashed into her home, according to KBAK.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 1:46 AM near the 1900 block of Gage Street.
The victim, identified as Alexandria Gordon on the GoFundMe to raise money for her benefit, sustained minor to moderate injuries from the impact and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities said no other individuals were reported injured in the crash.
Officers identified the driver as Thomas David Gonzalez Jr., 22, of Bakersfield. Gonzalez allegedly lost control of a 2024 Honda Accord and struck the residence. After the crash, he fled on foot, but witnesses guided officers to his location, leading to his arrest.
Gonzalez faces felony charges for driving under the influence causing injury and felony hit and run.
Authorities noted the crash caused significant property damage. Gordon reported additional hardship when a water leak further damaged her home while she attempted to recover her belongings. Emergency responders and police emphasized that her injuries were the primary concern during the incident.
Ongoing Investigations
Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.
California DUI Law
Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”
California Hit-and-Run Law
California Law requires drivers involved in a collision to stop their vehicle, notify law enforcement, and exchange insurance information with others involved. Failure to do so, considered to be a “hit-and-run,” is a misdemeanor in cases of property damage and a felony when someone has been injured.
