Red Corral, CA – On the evening of Monday, October 13, 2025, a head-on collision left one person dead and another critically injured, according to KCRA.
The Amador Fire Protection District reports that the accident took place shortly after 7:00 PM on Highway 88 near Aqueduct Grove Road.
Officials said two vehicles collided head-on, causing major damage to both. Emergency crews worked to extricate both drivers from the wreckage.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Highway 88 was closed for several hours as responders cleared debris and investigators documented the scene. Caltrans reported the roadway reopened to traffic just before 11:00 PM.
Authorities said the cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
