Fatal CR-102, CR-17 Crash near Hwy 113 in Woodland, Yolo County

Woodland, CA – On the morning of Thursday, October 23, 2025, a two-vehicle collision claimed one life and left another driver hospitalized with injuries, according to The Sacramento Bee, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 6:30 AM at the intersection of County Roads 102 and 17, east of Highway 113 in Yolo County.

Authorities said the collision involved a pickup truck and an SUV. The force of the impact pushed the SUV off the roadway, where first responders later found the driver unresponsive. Yolo County coroner’s officials were called to the scene and will release the deceased driver’s name once the next of kin have been notified.

The pickup truck driver, a 53-year-old Woodland man, was transported by ambulance to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center with minor injuries. Both lanes were temporarily closed as emergency crews and tow services cleared the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol’s Woodland Area office.

Ongoing Investigations

Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.

Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.

Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
