San Benito County, CA – In the early hours of Friday, October 3, 2025, a multi-vehicle crash left a sheriff’s deputy with a concussion and caused additional injuries, according to KSBW.
The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office reports that the accident took place around 1:00 AM on Highway 156, north of Fairview Road.
Initial evidence suggests that the deputy had been waiting to make a left turn when another vehicle struck the patrol car from behind at a high rate of speed. The force of the impact pushed the patrol car into oncoming traffic. The vehicle then collided head-on with another car.
Emergency responders transported the deputy and one of the other drivers to the hospital. Both individuals sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The deputy received treatment for a concussion and other minor injuries. The sheriff’s office confirmed that the crash also resulted in the loss of one patrol vehicle. Officials noted that the department already faces challenges due to a limited number of functioning vehicles.
Authorities continue to investigate the sequence of events that caused the crash.
Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a Personal Injury Claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
Personal Injury Claims
After a traffic accident, victims and their families often deal with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs. A Personal Injury Claim allows accident victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their costs of care.
