Bakersfield, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, October 28, 2025, a two-vehicle head-on collision resulted in the death of a 40-year-old man from Delano and left a 50-year-old woman from Arizona with major injuries, according to KGET.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred just before 5:45 AM on Highway 58, east of Bussell Road.
Preliminary findings indicate the man was driving a Jeep Cherokee westbound at a high rate of speed but entered the eastbound lane for reasons still under investigation. At the same time, the woman was traveling eastbound in a Chrysler when the Jeep continued toward her vehicle.
The two vehicles collided head-on, causing significant front-end damage to both. Emergency personnel arrived within minutes and pronounced the man dead at the scene due to the extent of his injuries. The woman suffered major trauma and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment.
Authorities said that alcohol or drug impairment did not appear to be a contributing factor in the crash. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate what caused the Jeep to drift into oncoming traffic.
