Fresno County, CA – In the late afternoon of Tuesday, September 2, 2025, a rollover crash involving a propane truck left two people critically injured and forced the closure of a major roadway, according to KSEE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 5:00 PM on Friant Road near Willow Avenue in Fresno County.
Investigators stated that it appeared a sedan left a nearby winery and pulled onto Friant Road directly into the path of the propane truck. The collision caused the large truck to overturn, spilling fuel onto the roadway, while the heavily damaged sedan veered onto the east shoulder.
A man and woman in the sedan both sustained critical injuries. Emergency crews transported one victim by air ambulance to a local hospital and the other by ground ambulance. The propane truck driver escaped with only minor injuries.
Authorities confirmed that Friant Road north of Willow Avenue will remain closed while cleanup and safety operations continue. As of 6:15 PM, traffic delays stretched about three miles. CHP investigators said alcohol or drugs do not appear to have played a role in the crash.
Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a Personal Injury Claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
