Sacramento, CA – On the morning of Wednesday, September 24, 2025, a multi-vehicle collision involving a Corvette and a big rig left one man with fatal injuries, according to FOX40, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 9:30 AM on eastbound U.S. Highway 50 just west of Howe Avenue.
Investigators determined that a silver Chevrolet Corvette became involved in a chain of events that began when the driver of an Acura executed an unsafe lane change. The maneuver caused the Acura to strike the right front of the Corvette. Following the impact, the Corvette moved left into the number one lane and stopped. At that point, a diesel truck traveling in the same lane struck the Corvette from behind.
The force of the crash left the Corvette pinned beneath the front of the big rig. Emergency crews arrived and worked to free the driver, who was found unresponsive inside the vehicle. Firefighters and paramedics transported him to a hospital, where he died at approximately 10:50 AM from the severity of his injuries.
Authorities confirmed that three vehicles were involved. The truck sustained significant front-end damage but did not spill its load. Caltrans cameras showed traffic delays in the area as lanes remained blocked during the investigation and cleanup.
CHP collected statements from the drivers of the other vehicles. They reported that drugs and alcohol did not appear to play a role in the crash. The investigation into the exact sequence of events continues.
