Carmichael, CA – On the night of Saturday, September 13, 2025, a single-vehicle collision left one person dead and sent two others to the hospital with injuries, according to The Sacramento Bee, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 9:51 PM at the intersection of Dewey Drive and Winding Way.
Fire crews responded to a call involving a black pickup truck that crashed near the intersection. When emergency personnel arrived, they found four occupants inside the vehicle. Crews evaluated all four individuals on scene.
Paramedics transported three of the occupants to a nearby hospital for further treatment. One of the injured victims later died at the hospital from crash-related injuries. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name.
The fourth occupant did not suffer serious injuries. Medics examined that person on site and released them shortly afterward.
The crash drew a large emergency response and led to traffic delays in the Carmichael area as responders secured the site. Authorities did not immediately confirm whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the collision.
Officials said the investigation remains active and encouraged anyone with information about the incident to contact the California Highway Patrol.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
Wrongful Death Claims
Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling. Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses.
