Madera County, CA – On the afternoon of Monday, August 4, 2025, a suspected DUI crash left three injured and led to the arrest of one driver, according to KSEE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the collision took place around 3:30 PM when a 56-year-old man from Gonzalez was driving a RAM 2500 southbound on Road 19 1/2.
As he approached the intersection with Avenue 18 1/2, he crossed over double yellow lines in an attempt to pass a big rig ahead of him. While doing so, he entered the intersection at a high rate of speed.
At the same time, a 67-year-old man from Madera was traveling eastbound on Avenue 18 1/2 in a 2010 GMC Yukon. Traffic on Avenue 18 1/2 is not controlled by stop signs in that area, whereas Road 19 1/2 has posted stop signs. The RAM 2500 struck the left side of the GMC in a T-bone collision.
Following the impact, the RAM continued in a southeasterly direction, hitting a stop sign and a power pole before overturning and coming to rest against a house located on the southeast corner of the intersection. The GMC also traveled southeast, striking a tree and fencing before coming to rest inside an irrigation canal.
Emergency personnel extricated the driver of the GMC using hydraulic rescue tools. He was transported by air to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. A passenger in the GMC sustained minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital.
The driver of the RAM sustained minor injuries. After an investigation, officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Personal Injury Claims
When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a Personal Injury Claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
