Madera County, CA – On the morning of Monday, August 18, 2025, a two-vehicle crash killed one person on State Route 233 near Avenue 22, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 8:40 AM when a white pickup truck struck a black sedan, later identified as a BMW.
The impact caused both vehicles to block the roadway and prompted authorities to request emergency medical services. Fire crews and paramedics arrived within minutes and began rescue operations.
Responders found a victim with fatal injuries inside one of the vehicles. Medical personnel confirmed the death at the scene. CHP has not released the name of the deceased individual because officers are still notifying family members.
CHP officers remained on State Route 233 throughout the morning to investigate the cause of the collision and to manage traffic around Avenue 22 while the roadway stayed partially closed.
Wrongful Death Claims
Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide support to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income.
Comparative Negligence
California Law upholds the concept of Comparative Negligence, which allows more than one party to share blame in a personal injury accident. Injured victims may have their compensation reduced if they are found partially responsible.
