Folsom, CA – On the afternoon of Sunday, August 17, 2025, a boating accident left a 12-year-old boy with serious injuries at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, according to KCRA.
California State Parks reports that the accident took place around 2:30 PM near Granite Bay within the lake.
State Parks officials said the boy sustained major injuries while riding an inflatable tube pulled behind a boat. Emergency crews transported him to a nearby hospital after first responders determined that he remained alert and conscious despite the severity of his condition.
Investigators did not provide details about how the tubing accident occurred. Authorities confirmed that they do not believe alcohol played a role in the incident.
The investigation remains active as authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Personal Injury Claims in Boating Accidents
Just like when they are behind the wheel of a car, anyone operating a boat is expected to show a Duty of Care toward those around them. When that is neglected, resulting in an accident that leads to injury, a Personal Injury Claim can hold the boat operator financially liable for the injured victim’s medical recovery costs, pain and suffering, and other damages.
Sometimes, in order to receive the best possible insurance settlement after an accidental injury, it might be necessary to work with a Personal Injury Attorney. The legal expertise of a Personal Injury Attorney can prove crucial in building a case that proves negligence on the part of the boat operator and identifies all of the ways that the injury impacted their victim.
Even if the at-fault party and victim have a personal or familial relationship, a Personal Injury Attorney can help navigate emotional complexities as a neutral third party.
