Hanford, CA – On the night of Friday, August 15, 2025, a single-vehicle off-road collision left one man dead and three passengers injured, according to KSEE, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 10:13 PM near the intersection of 5th Avenue and Jackson Avenue.
Authorities say the crash involved a 2021 Polaris Razor that traveled westbound through a dirt field before plunging into a canal filled with water. Investigators determined that the driver carried three passengers when he entered the waterway, though the circumstances that led to the collision remain under investigation.
Emergency responders from the Kings County Sheriff’s Office and the Kings County Fire Department arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations. All four occupants became trapped in the incident. One individual died before medical crews could provide aid. Authorities have not yet released the deceased man’s name, pending notification of his family.
The three surviving passengers managed to escape the submerged Polaris. Medical reports indicate that they suffered injuries ranging from minor to major trauma. Paramedics transported two of the injured victims to Kaweah Health Medical Center for further treatment. The third injured passenger received on-site medical evaluation before declining transport.
Authorities noted signs that alcohol or drugs may have contributed to the crash. Investigators continue to review physical evidence from the scene and statements from surviving passengers.
Officials confirmed that the collision remains an active investigation.
