Head-on Crash near Ygnacio Valley, Oak Grove Rd Kills Alina Safi, 16, in Walnut Creek

Walnut Creek, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, August 9, 2025, a head-on collision on eastbound Ygnacio Valley Road claimed the life of Alina Safi, 16, according to Bay City News

The crash occurred east of Oak Grove Road at approximately 4:40 PM. Safi, a student at Mt. Diablo High School in Concord, was the driver of one of the vehicles involved.

Walnut Creek police reported that Safi was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other occupants from the vehicles were transported to hospitals, including a juvenile who was airlifted to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland. A dog in one of the vehicles was taken to a veterinary clinic by a bystander.

A GoFundMe campaign has been created in her honor to raise funds for her funeral services.
