August 9, 2025, Bakersfield, CA: A pedestrian tragically lost his life in an accident that took place in Bakersfield on Saturday morning.
According to Bakersfield Now, the accident happened at 9 a.m. at 900 Union Avenue. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was crossing the street when he was suddenly struck by a vehicle headed northbound on Union. The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained on scene until police arrived.
The pedestrian, identified as 73-year-old Antonio Rodriguez, was rushed to a local hospital with major injuries. However, he tragically passed while there. Nobody else was hurt in the collision.
Bakersfield Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident at this time.
