Fresno, CA – On the morning of Friday, July 11, 2025, a hit-and-run collision resulted in fatal injuries to a pedestrian in his 50s, according to The Fresno Bee.
The Fresno Police Department reports that the accident took place just before 11:00 AM on Clinton Avenue between Valentine Avenue and Marks Avenue.
Officers arrived at the scene and found an adult male pedestrian lying in the westbound lanes of Clinton Avenue. Investigators believe the man was struck by at least one vehicle, possibly two. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities stated that one of the vehicles believed to be involved remained at the scene and that the driver is cooperating with the investigation. The other vehicle involved fled the area prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
Fresno police have launched a hit-and-run investigation and are working to identify the initial vehicle that made contact with the pedestrian. Officers remained at the crash site for several hours to document evidence and determine the events leading up to the collision.
The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has additional information to contact the Fresno Police Department.
Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for bicyclists with whom they share the road and, if a fatal collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
For those who lose a loved one in a bicycle accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.
Should the at-fault driver avoid legal consequences, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
