July 16, 2025, Santa Cruz, CA: One person tragically lost their life in a fatal motorcycle accident at a Santa Cruz intersection on Wednesday night.
According to KSBW, the collision happened around 7:15 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 129. Police confirmed that a driver traveling on a motorcycle in the area lost control of their vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway. Police said that the motorcycle then overturned, ejecting both the driver and passenger on it.
The 65-year-old female passenger on the motorcycle was tragically pronounced dead on scene as a result of her injuries. The driver, identified as a 59-year-old man from San Jose, was rushed to Natividad Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
Police said that alcohol/drugs are being investigated as a possible factor leading up to the accident. However, their investigation is ongoing at this time.
