Lake Isabella, CA – On the afternoon of Sunday, June 22, 2025, a motorcycle crash resulted in injuries to Darren Paul McPheeters, 64, that later proved fatal, according to KBAK.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:48 PM near Barlow Road, east of Barlow Drive.
Authorities stated that McPheeters was riding a motorcycle when, for reasons that remain under investigation, he lost control and crashed. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported McPheeters to Kern Medical for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. He remained hospitalized for several days before passing away from his injuries on June 29.
Officials have not released information regarding the possible cause of the collision, and it remains unclear whether speed, road conditions, mechanical failure, or a medical event may have contributed. No other vehicles were reported to be involved, and no additional injuries were reported at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
