Tambo, CA – On the evening of Friday, July 11, 2025, a head-on collision on Highway 70 resulted in two deaths and left four others, including two children, with serious injuries, according to KCRA, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 5:15 PM near the intersection of Highway 70 and Boyer Road, north of Marysville.
According to investigators, a Toyota traveling southbound on Highway 70 lost control and veered into oncoming traffic, striking a northbound Honda. Responding officers found both vehicles heavily damaged, with multiple occupants inside.
The driver of the Honda, identified as a 41-year-old man from Roseville, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 34-year-old woman in the same vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Two children in the Honda, a 4-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl, were also injured. The boy was reported to be in critical condition, while the girl sustained less severe but still serious injuries. Both children were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
The occupants of the Toyota were identified as an 18-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, both from Brentwood. They were hospitalized with serious injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. CHP has not confirmed whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
