Fresno County, CA – On the night of Thursday, June 26, 2025, a motorcycle collision with a farm tractor resulted in the death of the female passenger and left the male driver critically injured, according to ABC30.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the crash occurred around 9:15 PM near the intersection of Colorado Road and Sumner Avenue, between the towns of Tranquillity and San Joaquin.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a man operating a motorcycle with a female passenger attempted to pass a slow-moving farm tractor pulling a tank trailer. The tractor was traveling along the shoulder of the roadway and was equipped with rear lights and a reflective warning triangle. While attempting the maneuver, the motorcycle struck the rear of the tractor.
Both the man and woman were ejected from the motorcycle on impact. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. The man sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital for emergency treatment. His current condition remains unknown. The driver of the tractor was not hurt in the incident.
Authorities say that based on early evidence, alcohol or drugs do not appear to have played a role in the crash. The identity of the deceased woman is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
