Templeton, CA – On the night of Tuesday, June 3, 2025, a single-vehicle motorcycle crash left 51-year-old Atascadero man Jeremy Thomas with major injuries, according to The San Luis Obispo Tribune.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:35 PM near El Pomar Drive, east of Vaquero Road, in rural San Luis Obispo County.
Investigators say Thomas was operating a black Suzuki motorcycle traveling westbound on El Pomar Drive at a high rate of speed when he approached a curve in the roadway. While attempting to navigate the turn, he reportedly lost control of the motorcycle, which veered across the centerline into the eastbound lane. The motorcycle then continued across the road and onto the south shoulder, where Thomas was ejected from the bike.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and provided immediate medical assistance before transporting Thomas to Adventist Health Sierra Vista Hospital. Officials confirmed that he sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
According to the CHP, preliminary findings indicate that neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to have played a role in the crash. Authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and whether any mechanical failure or environmental factors may have contributed.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
