UPDATE: Corrina McKenzie Guitron, 40, ID’ed in Fatal Head-On Crash at Hwy 58, Hwy 202 in Tehachapi

Tehachapi, CA – Corrina McKenzie Guitron, 40, has been identified as the victim of a head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 18, 2025, according to KGET.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 1:33 PM on Highway 58, west of the Highway 202 interchange.

Authorities say Guitron was driving a Jeep westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 58 when she collided head-on with a Ram 1500. Guitron died at the scene from the force of the impact and was later identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the Ram sustained injuries and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment. The extent of those injuries has not been disclosed. No other vehicles were involved.

The cause of the wrong-way travel remains under investigation, and it is currently unknown whether impairment or a medical emergency played a role. CHP is asking any witnesses to come forward.

Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.  Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
