SR-4, Finton Rd Crash Kills Sonora Man, 28, in Oakdale

Oakdale, CA – On the morning of Monday, May 26, 2025, a rollover collision claimed the life of a 28-year-old man from Sonora, according to FOX40.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash took place around 10:40 AM on State Route 4, east of Finton Road.

Investigators determined the man was driving a Toyota eastbound when he made an unsafe left turn, causing the vehicle to leave the north edge of the road. The car rolled an undetermined number of times before coming to rest on its roof approximately 300 feet from the highway.

Responding officers found the victim a short distance from the vehicle. He had not been wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident, and the exact time of the crash is uncertain due to the distance from the roadway. Authorities continue to investigate.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
