Nicacio Rodriguez Soria, 64, ID’ed in Fatal Hwy 99, Hamilton Nord Cana Crash in Chico

Chico, CA – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified 64-year-old Nicacio Rodriguez Soria as the Gridley man who lost his life in a single-vehicle crash on the morning of Thursday, April 24, 2025, according to KGET.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 8:46 AM near Highway 99, approximately half a mile south of Hamilton Nord Cana Highway.

According to authorities, Soria was driving a vehicle southbound on Highway 99 when, for reasons not yet known, the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a roadside fence. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided medical assistance before Soria was transported from the area for further treatment.

Despite efforts to save his life, Soria was later pronounced dead at 10:09 AM on Friday, April 25, in the 2000 block of Highway 46 in Lost Hills. Officials have not released additional information about whether weather, road conditions, or mechanical failure may have played a role in the incident.

The California Highway Patrol has confirmed that the investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing. No other vehicles or individuals were reported to be involved, and no eyewitness accounts have been publicly released at this time.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
