One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two sustained major injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. One of the dogs was also injured, while the other was not.
The second vehicle had a single occupant who suffered minor injuries. Emergency responders arrived promptly, and Animal Control was notified to assist with the injured dog.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. County road crews temporarily closed the area to traffic while emergency personnel cleared the scene. The road was reopened later in the morning after the coroner and tow services completed their work.
Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the California Highway Patrol.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
