Fatal Motorcycle Crash with Car on Data Dr in Rancho Cordova

Rancho Cordova, CA – On the evening of Sunday, April 6, 2025, a crash between a car and a motorcycle resulted in the death of the motorcyclist, according to FOX40.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office reports that the accident took place around 6:30 PM in the 3600 block of Data Drive.

Emergency responders from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District arrived at the scene and found the motorcyclist with critical injuries. Despite efforts to save the individual, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead after being transported to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the car, who had minor injuries, was also transported to the hospital after being removed from the vehicle. The driver is suspected of being under the influence at the time of the crash.

Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved, and the investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision is ongoing.

Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.  Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
