Hwy 70, Feather River Blvd Rollover Crash kills Boy, 14, in Yuba County

Yuba County, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, March 29, 2025, a single-vehicle rollover crash off Highway 70 resulted in the death of a 14-year-old boy, according to ABC10.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 3:25 PM near Feather River Boulevard when a silver or white SUV allegedly made an unsafe lane change, causing a Honda Pilot to lose control and overturn.

Emergency crews arrived to find the Honda approximately 50 feet down a dirt embankment. Inside, they located the unresponsive 14-year-old boy, who was transported to Adventist Health + Rideout Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The Honda was driven by a 53-year-old man who complained of pain following the crash. A 47-year-old woman was also in the vehicle and was uninjured, while a 12-year-old boy reported minor pain. All occupants were from Olivehurst.

Southbound Highway 70 and the off-ramp to Feather River Boulevard were closed for nearly two hours as officials investigated and removed the wrecked vehicle.

Authorities have not confirmed whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The driver of the other vehicle involved has not been identified. This is an ongoing investigation.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.

Passenger Liability

Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and the passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a Personal Injury claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming.

A skilled personal injury attorney can help families pursue proper compensation for their loss by handling these legal complexities and negotiating with insurance companies, who always try to reduce payouts on claims they cannot deny.
