Fresno, CA – On the morning of Saturday, March 15, 2025, a 74-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle while using a walker in Fresno, according to The Fresno Bee.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the collision occurred around 5:30 AM on Clinton Avenue, east of Bond Street.
Authorities report that a Toyota Avalon was traveling westbound when it struck the woman, who was walking in the westbound lanes.
The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota immediately stopped, called 911, and cooperated with authorities.
CHP officials stated that alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash. However, they noted that the area lacks streetlights and is considered extremely dark due to being in a county pocket.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials encourage anyone with relevant information to contact CHP.
Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for pedestrians near the roadway and, if a fatal collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
For those who lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.
