March 9, 2025, Bakersfield, CA: On Sunday night, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident on a highway in Bakersfield.
The accident, according to information provided by Bakersfield Now, occurred at 10:53 p.m. on Edison Highway around the intersection with Mount Vernon Avenue. Police confirmed that a man was driving his Toyota Scion in the area headed west when he suddenly struck a pedestrian who was walking in the westbound lanes of Edison Highway. The driver of the Toyota claimed that they were unable to avoid the collision.
The pedestrian, identified as a 47-year-old man, was tragically pronounced dead on scene as a result of his injuries. The driver of the Scion, identified as a 46-year-old man, was not injured but cooperated with police.
No further details have been released but police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision at this time.
