Masoud Esmailpour, 37, Killed in Crash at Madison, Manzanita Ave in Carmichael

Carmichael, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, February 15, 2025, a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Carmichael resulted in one fatality and left another person injured, according to The Sacramento Bee.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 3:30 PM at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Manzanita Avenue.

Authorities say 37-year-old Masoud Esmailpour of Carmichael was driving a sedan westbound on Madison Avenue when he allegedly ran a red light. A van, driven by a man in his 20s traveling northbound on Manzanita Avenue, collided with the left side of the sedan.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported Esmailpour to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The van driver suffered minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital for treatment.

The crash left debris scattered across the roadway, and crews worked to clear the scene. Utility services were called to assess damage to a pole at the intersection.

Authorities continue to investigate the collision. No additional details regarding possible contributing factors have been released.

Stop Sign Laws

California Law requires drivers to come to a complete stop at a Stop sign (California Vehicle Code 22450). Drivers may only enter the intersection when it appears safe for all parties to do so (California Vehicle Code 21802).

Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Liability

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.  Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
