December 14, 2024, Bakersfield, CA: Several people were injured in a car accident involving officers that took place on a roadway in Bakersfield on Saturday night.
The accident, according to information provided by KGET, took place around 8:05 p.m. on Calloway Drive near the area of Slikker Drive. Police confirmed that a blue Lexus SUV was traveling in the area when the driver slammed into the back of a Dodge Charger owned by California Highway Patrol. At the time of the crash, officers were setting up a checkpoint in the area.
Police claim that multiple officers were injured due to the accident and were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. There were also several juveniles assisting the police at the time of the crash who were hurt and hospitalized. The injuries were all described as moderate in nature.
The driver of the SUV was identified as a 42-year-old male who was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
