December 9, 2024, Visalia, CA: A fatal accident involving a water tanker truck took place on a highway in Visalia on Monday afternoon.
According to information provided by Your Central Valley, the accident happened around 2:10 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Highway 198 near the area of Highway 99. Police confirmed that a sedan was traveling east on Highway 198 next to a water tanker when the two vehicles collided due to reasons that are still being investigated. The sedan became lodged underneath the water tanker and turned upside-down as a result, leading to extensive damages.
One person involved in the crash was tragically pronounced dead on scene. Three other individuals, including a two-year-old, were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries ranging anywhere from mild to moderate in nature.
There was a detour put in place for a period of time following the accident.
