November 5, 2024, Bakersfield, CA: On Tuesday evening, one person tragically lost their life in a fatal pedestrian accident in Bakersfield.
According to Bakersfield Now, the collision happened around 7:16 p.m. on Olive Drive around the area of Airport Drive. A Toyota Tacoma was headed eastbound on Olive while a male pedestrian was walking southbound. The man started to cross the street when he was struck by the driver of the Tacoma.
The pedestrian, identified as a 59-year-old man, was tragically pronounced dead on scene due to his injuries. The driver of the Toyota remained on scene and was not injured.
A northbound lane of traffic was blocked for two hours following the collision.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
