November 13, 2024, Santa Cruz, CA: A man and dog were tragically killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash that took place at a Santa Cruz intersection on Wednesday morning.
According to information provided by Kion 46 News Channel, the collision happened at 2:46 a.m. at the intersection of 7th Avenue and Eddy Lane. At that time, an unknown vehicle was traveling southbound when it collided with a pedestrian and his dog who were walking at the intersection. The driver then fled the scene of the accident.
The pedestrian, identified as a 30-year-old man, sustained major injuries. He and his dog were tragically pronounced dead on scene by paramedics.
California Highway Patrol discovered the suspect following the accident. He was arrested, though police have not said what charges the driver is expecting.
