October 13, 2024, Fresno, CA: An officer was injured in a pedestrian accident involving a suspected DUI driver in Fresno early Sunday morning.
According to information provided by Your Central Valley, the accident happened around 2 a.m. on Olive Avenue. Initially, police responded to the scene due to reports of a physical altercation at a nearby nightclub. Officers began to investigate, which is when an eastbound vehicle struck one of the officers and knocked him to the ground. The driver of the vehicle continued onward but became stuck in traffic nearby.
Police caught up to the driver, identified as a 21-year-old female and her adult male passenger. Both were detained due to their role in the incident. The female driver was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, as well as felony hit-and-run.
The officer was injured in the accident. He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.
No further details have been released at this time. Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the accident.
