October 27, 2024, Tulare, CA: A man was killed in a fatal hit-and-run accident that took place on a highway in Tulare on Sunday morning.
The accident, according to information provided by Your Central Valley, took place around 10 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near the area of K Street. A man was driving a black Chevrolet Silverado when it suddenly slammed into the back of a red Nissan Altima due to reasons that remain under investigation.
The accident caused the Altima to swerve across all lanes of traffic, where it came to rest on the shoulder against a wire fence. The Silverado slammed into the rear of a white Ford Escape, causing extensive damages.
Paramedics were called to the scene to help all involved parties. The driver of the Nissan, identified as a 26-year-old man from Bakersfield, was tragically pronounced dead on scene due to his injuries. Two of the passengers inside the Ford sustained minor injuries and were treated.
Police confirmed that the driver of the Silverado fled the scene on foot following the collision and has not yet been found.
No further details have been released at this time. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
