September 24, 2024, Nipomo, CA: One person lost their life in a tragic motorcycle accident crash involving a hit-and-run driver in Nipomo on Tuesday afternoon.
According to information provided by KSBY, the accident happened at 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Hutton Road and Joshua Street. A driver was traveling south on Hutton in a Nissan pickup truck when they suddenly made a U-turn in front of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The motorcyclist slammed into the passenger’s side of the pickup truck, causing them to become ejected.
The occupants inside the pickup truck got out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. An off-duty police officer quickly apprehended both of them in the area.
The motorcyclist, identified as a 37-year-old man from Nipomo, was tragically pronounced dead on scene due to his injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
Police took the 36-year-old driver into custody for his role in the accident.
No further details have been released but California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident at this time.
