July 23, 2024, San Luis Obispo, CA: A hit-and-run accident involving two bicyclists took place in San Luis Obispo on Tuesday afternoon. According to information provided by KSBY, the accident occurred around noon on South Higuera Street near the local cemetery.
When the San Luis Obispo Police Department arrived on scene, they discovered that two bicyclists were traveling south on South Higuera when they were suddenly struck by the driver of a passenger vehicle in the area. The driver kept on going and did not stop to check on the cyclists.
Paramedics and numerous other emergency responders were dispatched to the scene. The two cyclists, who have not yet been formally identified, were injured. The two were taken to the hospital for treatment, though their current conditions are not yet known.
Police checked a nearby surveillance camera and identified the white car that was involved in the accident. It is not known if they located the involved driver at this time.
The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
