Fatal DUI Accident on Highway 180 Near Cornelia Avenue in Fresno
Around 12:15 a.m. on Thursday morning, one person was killed and another was arrested in a suspected DUI crash in Fresno. According to Your Central Valley, the accident happened on Highway 180 on the morning of June 20, 2024.
When California Highway Patrol officials arrived on scene, they discovered that a 21-year-old driver was driving a 2019 Nissan Versa westbound on Highway 180 approaching the left front of a driver in a Nissan Sentra. The driver of the Sentra was traveling eastbound at the time when both vehicles collided head-on with each other due to reasons that are still being investigated.
A female passenger in the Sentra sustained major injuries and was hospitalized. She was tragically pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the Sentra was also seriously injured and hospitalized.
Police confirmed that the 21-year-old driver of the Versa was also seriously injured and hospitalized. They also determined that he was allegedly driving under the influence at the time of the accident. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
