Suspected DUI Accident Leads to Fatality on Highway 41 in Fresno
On Saturday night, a three-vehicle collision involving a DUI driver took place in Fresno. According to information provided by Your Central Valley, the accident happened around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 41 and Manning Avenue on the night of May 18, 2024.
When California Highway Patrol arrived on scene, they discovered that three vehicles were involved in a collision at the intersection. Two vehicles were allegedly stopped at a red light when a pickup truck rear-ended them. The vehicle that rear-ended the others was a Ford F-250 that ran into the back of a Nissan Sentra, pushing it forcefully into a Chevrolet Camaro.
When paramedics arrived on scene, they discovered multiple victims with injuries. The driver of the Sentra was tragically pronounced dead on scene and has been identified as a 65-year-old Texas woman. The woman’s husband, a 69-year-old, was a passenger in her vehicle and was rushed to the hospital with major injuries. The driver of the Camaro, a 31-year-old Fresno man, was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police have since identified the driver of the F-250 as a 54-year-old man from Madera who also received minor injuries in the accident. He has since been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident at this time.
